2008 somersault run series - champions challenge

Champions Challenge
Somersault is pleased to announce the return of the Champions Challenge, a competitive program within the 2008 Somersault Run Series. Each race in the Somersault Run Series is a Champions Challenge event and qualifies particpants for Champions Challenge rankings.

The Junior Challenge
We are pleased to announce the expansion of our Junior Challenge from 19 and under, to age groups of 14 & under, 15-16, and 17-19 years in 2008 . The program is designed for those 13 to 19 years of age and provides a forum for these participants to compare themselves against others the same age and gender. Race distances that qualify for the Junior Challenge are 8Km or less in length. Any race 8Km or less in the 2008 Eastern Run Series is included in the Junior Challenge . These distances are appropriate for younger participants who are healthy and fit.

The Champions Challenge/Junior Challenge is based on a performance ranking system that scores individual race performances on a points-per-race basis.

Participants receive points based on their place in Somersault Run Series races, with the top 500 male and female finishers in each race, receiving points (see the points chart below).  The athletes with the most Championship Challenge or Junior Challenge Points over the course of the season will be declared the official Champions Challenge and Junior Challenge Champions for 2008. All Champions Challenge Category Winners will be honoured at year end Champions Challenge Awards Reception , as the Outstanding Road Racers of the year in their category.

Champions Challenge Eligibility

Who is Eligible

Anyone who enters an Somersault Run Series race is ranked in the Champions Challenge.  Race participants don’t have to register for the Champions Challenge or the Junior Challenge, they are automatically assigned points based on their race place.

Minimum Number of Races
To be ranked at year end in the Champions Challenge or Junior Challenge participants must complete a minimum of 3 races during the season.

Maximum Number of Races
The point scores from a maximum of 4 races can be counted in the Champions Challenge Rankings . If participants enter more than 4 Champions Challenge Races, only their 4 best performances count towards their Champions Challenge Ranking.
