Jump Menu   introduction   registration information   race services   race day information   general information

After our modest success with the first annual National Capital 5Km Run last year, we decided to increase the distance, to make it a little tougher - and to add an additional 10Km race in addition to the 5Km Run, into our Champions Challenge program. Runners and walkers can join in on the fun of this National Capital weekend of running, swimming, paddling, and cycling festival of activity. The run start is situated at the West Field of the Terry Fox Athletic Facility.

We think you will enjoy the run through beautiful paved pathways along the tree lined Rideau River - not the canal, the river. You will be joining more than 600 others in a half day of fun and fitness, with an event for everyone of every age and stage. Whether you are fast or slow or you run or walk, come on out!

Each 2008 Somersault Run Series race is part of the Champions Challenge. Check out how you can score points in the Champions Challenge at http://www.somersault.ca/championshipstri.htm.

camp quality - "lifting the spirits of children with cancer"
We are pleased and proud to announce that Camp Quality is the Official Charity of the National Capital Run. We encourage you to visit their booth on site. Some of the camp's kids and their advocates will be helping out at the Finish Line and at Water stations on the course, so say hi!

Camp Quality Eastern Ontario is a non-profit, volunteer organization that, in addition to our signature week-long camping experience, provides year-round support for children with cancer (receiving treatment or in remission) and their families. It's web site is www.campquality.com.

Our program provides children with the opportunity to try both new and familiar activities, make new friends and gain memories that will last forever! This year’s camp takes place from August 9th to 15th. Check us out at www.campquality.org!

Help Send A Kid To Camp
Our goal this year, is to see if we can raise enough money through the National Capital, to send at least one kid to camp. The cost of the camp is $1500 per child - and that is with all camp staff acting as volunteers. You can help by making a donation, or by providing your pledge support to one of the race participants.

ch
ampionchip timing - by sportstats
We use ChampionChip Timing at all Somersault races.  This timing system requires that all participants wear a ChampionChip Bracelet on your ankle (Anklet) during the race.  This bracelet contains a computer chip that allows you to be timed.  You are responsible for obtaining your ChampionChip Bracelet on race morning from the timing people at the Sportstats Tent near the Finish Line.  Do this at least 30 minutes before your race - earlier is better!  Races will not be held up waiting for those who forgot their bracelet. You must return your ChampionChip Bracelet immediately after you cross the finish line.  You are responsible for the cost if it is not returned - and it is expensive.

race info updates
We will email 3 weekly National Capital Run Newsletters to participants with the latest updates prior to the race.  These newsletters are very important as they will identify  changes, answer your questions and recommend race day procedures that will make your event day a better one.  Please provide an accessible email address on your entry form if you wish to receive these Newsletters. You may want to use a personal email address rather than your work email, because many employers utilize filters that will not let the Newsletter through.
