Town Hall, Carleton Place, Ottawa Ontario

We invite you to bring your kids (11 and under - boys and girls) to Carleton Place, for the Wylie Ryan Carleton Place Kids' 1Km Run.  It is a neat downtown run on a traffic free main street, and is associated with the Carleton Place Heritage Run and the Graham Beasley Triahtlon. The kids' run begins once all the triathletes have finished the cycle leg of the triathlon.

There are no refunds for any reason - this includes event cancellation or event changes. Credit cards are accepted for online entries only, up to Sunday June 28th.  All entries received after Sunday June 28th are $10 (Cash Only), and must be made at a Race Kit Pick Up time and location.

Souvenir shirts are included with your entry (up to Sunday June 28th). Entries received after Sunday June 28th are not eligible for the souvenir shirt.

important deadlines

awards and prizes
All participants receive a souvenir shirt, a finisher's medal, a chance at lots of draw prizes, and free entry on race day to the museum . We do not provide awards for placing in the top 3 overall or in each age division, as we believe that winning is its own reward.

official performance certificate
We are pleased to offer each race finisher, the opportunity to download and print an official certificate of their event performance. That's right, after each event you will be able go online to the event web site, punch in your race number and obtain a certificate that highlights your race, finish time and place in the race.

zoomphoto.ca photography
We are pleased to be able to offer a photo program for participants in the Wylie Ryan Carleton Plave 1Km.  Zoomphoto will be offering you classy photos commemorating your participation.  Just go to http://www.somersault.ca/results.htm the day after the event for your photo

souvenir shirt
A souvenir shirt is included in the entry fee up to and including June 28th. Those entering after Sunday June 28th are not eligible for the souvenir shirt. You are not eligible for the souvenir shirt if you do not pick up your participant kit.

refreshments
Enjoy fruit, a bagel and a drink after the run.

championchip timing - by sportstats
We use ChampionChip Timing at all Somersault races. This timing system requires that all participants wear a ChampionChip Bracelet on their ankle (Anklet) during the race. This bracelet contains a computer chip that allows the kids to be timed. 

The kids are responsible for obtaining their ChampionChip Bracelet on race morning from the timing people at the Sportstats Tent near the Finish Line.  Do this at least 30 minutes before their race - you will need their race number to obtain the chip. 

The ChampionChip Bracelet must be returned immediately after the kids cross the finish line.  You are responsible for the bracelet cost if it is not returned - and it is expensive.

results (age of december 31, 2010)
The kids personal results will be posted very soon after they finish the race.  Please check the results as soon as you can, to be sure they are accurate.  If  there are discrepancies, go to the Sportstats Van near the Finish Line and provide them with the information you think is correct. 

Remember we use the participant's age at December 31, 2010- not their race day age - for result purposes.

Results will be posted at http://www.somersault.ca/results.htm within 24 hours of the race and are available at RunersWeb.com.

directions & parking
Carleton Place is on Hwy. 7, just 15 minutes West of Kanata. The Race site is at the Youth Centre on Mill St. beside Town Hall and right beside the Transition Zone.  Parking is available on downtown streets and in parking lots along Bridge St. - anywhere it is legal.

You can use the run course map below, to find your way to CArleton Place and the race site. You just have to zoom out on the map to get your map directions.

course description 
The runners start on Bridge St. on teh bridge over the Mississippi river.  The kids head down Bridge St. to the turn around and run back to the Finish Line near Town Hall.

volunteers
A parent or adult supervisor must accompany all participants.  One adult may accompany several participants. You may be asked to assist at the event.

The Wylie Ryan Aviation Museum 1.1Km Run is also a great opportunity for schools or clubs to raise some money by volunteering. It is a fun way to pick up a few hundred dollars.
