teen try a tri and sprint tri

Yes, the first wave of the Try A Tri will be teenagers 14 -15 years of age.  Come on out and tri one - bring your mountain bike if you don't have a road bike - its fun!

Juneiles and Juniors (16 - 19) are invited to participate in the Classic Sprint and will form the first wave in this event.

ChampionChip timing
We use ChampionChip Timing at all Somersault races.  This timing system requires that all participants wear a ChampionChip Bracelet on their ankle during the race.  This bracelet contains a computer chip that allows you to be timed.  No chip = no time. You are responsible for obtaining your ChampionChip Bracelet on race morning from the Sportstats timing people at their tent near the Finish Line.  Do this at least 30 minutes before your race - earlier is better!  Races will not be held up waiting for those who forgot their bracelet. You must return your ChampionChip Bracelet to Sportstats immediately after you cross the finish line.  You are responsible for the cost if it is not returned - and it is expensive.

your results (Age is as of December 31, 2006)
Your personal results will be posted very soon after you finish the race.  Please check the results as soon as you can, to be sure they are accurate.  If  there are discrepancies, go to the Sportstats van near the Finish Line and provide them with the information you think is correct.  Results will only adjusted after race day, if it is our error.  Have the results people make changes before you leave the event site, or live with the results! Results will be posted at www.somersault.ca within 24 hours of the race.

course descriptions
500 & 200metre Triathlon Swims - New Start Procedures
The swim is the traditional swim. It is an out and back triangle course starting in the Rideau River adjacent to the Mariners Inn just below the big Combination Lock.  The course is marked by large swim buoys and is supervised by qualified marshals. Swimmers swim out 100 or 250 metres make a sharp right turn and return to the swim exit at the Block House, on the shore opposite the Mariners Inn. Swimmers must wear the swim cap provided and may wear wetsuits if they chose. There is a 100 metre run from the river's edge to the Transition Zone.

 2.2 kilometre Duathlon Run
The run begins adjacent to the T-Zone on the recreational path beside the river.  Runners proceed towards Lower Reach Park and complete a loop around the park, returning to the Transition Zone.  The entrance to the T-Zone is at the same point that the swimmers enter.

20 kilometre Cycle Course
The cycle begins at the Transition Zone on River Rd. and exits turning left onto Jasper Ave and then onto Jasper Hwy.  It proceeds along Jasper Highway to the Town of Jasper, where it makes a 180 degree turn and the cyclists retrace their steps back to the T-Zone on River St.

5Km Run
Runners exit the T-Zone onto the recreational pathway and head along the river pathway to the Beckwith St. bridge. They pass under the Beckwith St. Bridge and continue along the Canal to Abbot St.  Runners turn right on Abbot and cross the canal bridge and then turn immediately right onto the recreational pathway again. The pathway leads runners across three pedestrian bridges onto Confederation Dr. They turn right on Confederation Dr. and continue on it until they turn right and cross the canal again just before the Beckwith St. Bridge.  They cross the canal and turn left back onto the recreational pathway and head under the Beckwith St. Bridge on the pathway. After passing under the bridge, the runners turn immediately right across the pedestrian bridge and right again up a sharp hill onto the Beckwith St. bridge.  They cross the bridge and continue on Beckwith St. to the corner of Chambers St.  They turn right on Chambers and follow Chambers to the corner of Elmsley St. where they turn right.  Runners follow Elmsley St. to Old Slys Rd. where they turn right.   They follow Old Slys Rd. across the canal and turn right into Lower Reach Park. They then follow the recreational pathway to the finish Line on River St.
